Join Byron Jorjorian as we explore the beautiful Henry Horton State Park.  Byron ranks it as one of his favorite places to shoot within 30 minutes from his home, visiting the park once a week on average throughout the year.  September is the best time of the year for shooting macro images in Henry Horton because of the abundance of dew covered grasses, spider webs and other insects.  The park cuts a maze in the natural grass fields every year and this allows for a multitude of places to shoot these wonderful macro subjects, many times at eye level.
We will meet on Saturday morning at 7:30am with a field session. The natural grasses should be at about eye level and the park will have cut a maze through the field, creating a treasure trove of dew covered grasses, spider webs and slow moving insects.  This is Byron's favorite time of the year for shooting at Henry Horton for this type of work.  We will wind up our shooting around 10:30 or 11 and begin our classroom session. We will spend the rest of the day in the classroom session winding up at 3:30pm

We will  head over to the restaurant for a lunch break around noon.

Topics that will be covered will include: Stalking Tiny Subjects, Selective Focus, Multiple Exposure, Metering Techniques, Macro Fill-Flash, Light Tents & Reflectors, Macro Telephoto, Defocus Techniques, Image Echoes, Lens Selection, Applying Artful Composition in the Close-up World and Much More!!

Art of Macro Fall

September 8th-2018

Byron has been interested in the natural world for as long as he can remember. He grew up in rural Mississippi with cages of snakes, frogs, and lizards under his bed. His artistic side showed itself at an early age with sketches, drawings and paintings centered around nature. But at age 19, the journey began when he purchased a small camera. His love of nature, art and being true to one's self has been the thing that has driven him to be a truly remarkable photographer. He continually tries to explore and discover new ways of capturing images. With over 400,000 images to his name, having over 12,000 images published worldwide (National Geographic, Audubon Field Guides, Smithsonian Books, etc.), and having 22,000 fine art prints installed across the nation, Byron strives to share the vision of his journey with others. He was also featured in the book The Best of Nature Photography - Images and Techniques from the Pros and has been named one of the top 40 Nature Photographers worldwide.

In the interest of giving our workshop clients our full attention while in the field, we do not shoot for our own personal use.
